Segment Editing in Avid Express Pro
Being able to accurately move clips in your timeline is a very important process of you editing workflow. Segment editing allows you to reposition segments in your timeline. I am sure most of you have used segment editing at one point so I want to focus on a specific technique. If you are trying to move a segment straight up or down to a different video track in your timeline but you do not want it to move left or right.
This is very simple to do but most editors new to Avid do not know this technique. Select the Lift/Overwrite button (red) and click on the desired segment.
