Adobe Workspaces

|

Adobe workspaces.gif

Adobe video and audio applications provide a consistent, customizable workspace. Although each application has its own set of panels (such as Tools, Properties, Timeline, and so on), you move and group panels in the same way across products.

The main window of a program is the application window. Panels are organized in this window in an arrangement called a workspace. The default workspace contains groups of panels as well as panels that stand alone.

You customize a workspace by arranging panels in the layout that best suits your working style. You can create and save several custom workspaces for different tasks--for example, one for editing and one for previewing.

You can drag panels to new locations, move panels into or out of a group, place panels alongside each other, and undock a panel so that it floats in a new window above the application window. As you rearrange panels, the other panels resize automatically to fit the window.

Adobe Photoshop Launching Issues

I recently was unable to open Adobe Photoshop. It was locked up on the splash screen and the only way to stop it was to either restart my computer or end it through the task manager. I did a little research and found that this is a very common problem. It seems the settings become corrupt and you will no longer be able to launch Adobe Photoshop until you delete the proper files. You need to either systematically delete files or you can delete all of the files to rectify all of your problems. you will lose all of your custom actions but if you can't start Photoshop they are worthless. All you need to do is go to "C:\Documents and Settings\USER\Application Data\Adobe\Photoshop\8.0\Adobe Photoshop CS Settings" start by deleting "New Doc Sizes.psp" and if that does not work then you may have to delete everything. This should resolve your problems with starting Adobe Photoshop.

Adobe Photoshop CS3 and NTSC

NTSC%20Color%20Safe.jpg

Once again I cannot stress the importance of meeting the NTSC color safe colors in your productions. Using Photoshop is a reality in today’s productions and meeting the standards set by the FCC for broadcast is a very important task if you edit for television. All televisions today are built to meet these specifications. You need to make sure that your black levels are set to 16 or 7.5 IRE and the absolute white never exceeds 235 or 100 IRE. To make sure that you always are within specifications you need to go to the levels adjustment.
1. Go to Image in the top toolbar and navigate to Adjustments.
2. Navigate to Levels and open the Levels dialogue box.
3. At the bottom of the box you will see output levels and change them to 16 for the low and 235 for the high.
Just remember the 16 equals 7.5 IRE and 235 is equal to 100 IRE.

Adobe Encore: Override End Action

|

DVD%20Encore.jpg

A very important link is the end action override. This is an optional setting that can override the end action of the destination. The standard link sets the next destination; the override sets the end action of that destination, replacing its default end action. Overrides give you dynamic control over the navigation through a DVD. You can change the path through the DVD according to what the viewer has just watched.
