Exporting Multiple Audio tracks with QuickTime
In Final Cut Pro you can now export a QuickTime movie with up to 24 embedded audio tracks. This is fantastic, especially if you need to send an audio mix to a sound designer. You can also use this as a method of transferring audio files to and from Avid ProTools.

In ProTools, I found you have to input the movie twice in order to get the actual video to play along with all the tracks.
In order to export a QuickTime movie with more than 2 audio tracks, you will need to make some adjustments in your user preferences. Navigate to the Final Cut Pro menu – Users Preferences. Select the Audio Outputs tab. You will need to duplicate the locked preset in order to create a new one.
The Audio Preset Editor will appear and you can choose the number of audio tracks you need. You can also choose whether tracks are stereo or dual mono.
Before exporting your QuickTime movie, you will need to map the individual sequence tracks to their corresponding output tracks. You should do this step last, unless you have a way of monitoring more than 2 independent audio channels. Control click (or right click) on each track and assign it’s corresponding audio channel.

*Remember, adjusting your user settings will not affect current sequences. It will only affect new sequences. You can make these same adjustments on a current sequence by control clicking (or right clicking) on an existing sequence and selecting its settings.
