Day 3 at NAB 2006 for Streaming and Compression
I enjoyed my Day 3 at NAB learning about the Mobile DTV Alliance of which Texas Instruments, PacketTV, Modeo and Nokia are all a part of. The alliance is pushing for a standard in delivering DVB-H over mobile devices. The technology is exciting.
The other part of my day I spent learning about the details for compressing video with the new VC-1 codec on the Window platform. This codec has some exciting features and offers outstanding compression quality and efficiency. The VC- 1 codec and encoding is available in the Windows Media Encoder Studio edition, which is in beta an should be available soon if not today from the Microsoft website.
