To start this effect:
Open a background image of your choice
Resize your image as needed
Navigate to the Photoshop menu, preferences, and click on 3D.
Uncheck the "Auto-hide Layers" option.
Next, click on the 3D menu and choose "New Layer from 3D File"
Select a file with a 3D model. Photoshop supports a variety of 3D files.
You can access a variety of free models by visiting the Adobe Website.
The 3D model will show on your screen on a new layer
On the toolbar, click on the Object Rotate Tool and place the cursor on the 3D object
Click and drag to achieve the desire position based on your background image
Click on the same tool icon again, hold it, and choose the 3D object roll tool to rotate the object side to side
You can press the keyboard shortcut shift-k to toggle between the 3D tools as shown. Select the 3D Object Scale Tool to make the object match the scale of your background.
Now choose 3D Object Pan Tool
Place your object where you'd like it to start within the scene.
Now that your object is placed, let's proceed to animate the object.
From the window menu, choose Animation.
The Animation Palette Menu opens at the bottom of your screen.
Twirl down the disclosure triangle for your 3D object.
Click on the stop watch icon for the 3D object position.
Now move the position indicator to when you want the animation to stop.
Using the 3D Object Pan Tool, click and drag your object to where you want it to go.
Go to the Animation Palette menu and click on "Set End of Work Area"
Move the position indicator again to your start position
Finally, click on the Play button of the animation controls and see your object move.
