Google SketchUp editing groups and component trick

Google SketchUp is a great tool for all your modeling needs.  Components and groups are the building blocks of SketchUp and editing groups and components in SketchUp is simple enough.  Just select your object, right click your mouse and select either edit group or edit component, but the trick is......

When editing groups and components, it can get to be a challenge when your project starts to get large and complicated and having to navigate around all the additional geometry in your project can quickly become counterproductive; but this situation can easily be solved by knowing just one trick.
On windows machine under windows pull down menu select model info.

With Model Info selected you will then have a dialog box like this one.  Then select components and you will notice that you now have the option to fade or hide objects while editing.

The current setting for this model is not to hide the rest of the model while editing so when you are editing a complex scene your view would look like this

componet edt screen with everything on.gif

but with a simple check on hide rest of model and a very complicated scene can quickly go from that to this.

componet edt screen with everything off.gif

and now your model can be edited quickly and easily without having to navigate all the additional geometry in the scene.
