Held at Saku Suurhall in Tallinn, Estonia, Simpel Session 08 attracted thousands of spectators from around the world, and some 118,000 more unable to attend who were treated to a real-time and uninterrupted front seat-look at all the action, which took place over three days and came to a rousing conclusion on Sunday, Jan. 27, with a marathon 8-hour live Webcast

Wowza Media Systems, emerging leader in media streaming server software, announced today that TVW (www.tvw.org), a Washington state public affairs broadcaster with an audience of more than 3.8 million, has selected Wowza Media Server Pro as its official Flash streaming server software platform.

According to Scott Freeman, Director of IT, TVW, the selection of Wowza Pro over competing Flash server software solutions came down to three criteria: performance, reliability and cost, with reliable live streaming performance as the clear priority:

'Wowza Pro worked right out of the box. What was more impressive, Wowza Pro streamed live feeds uninterrupted in our 15-day pilot. Not a single hiccup," said Freeman. "This is the kind of 'set and forget' reliability we need to deliver live legislative public affairs coverage at all times of the day, 365 days a year."

Real-time streaming has many benefits. This type of delivery is streaming that occurs from a streaming server, which is a computer or server with streaming server software installed onto it. What's nice about real-time streaming is that viewers can instantly see the streaming videos they're interested in watching without waiting for a download. Viewers can also immediately access the end of a video. If you want to deliver long form videos then real-time streaming is a great option. Even videos as long as 2 hours can be delivered as real-time streams. Another important feature of real-time streaming is that a copy of the video is not placed on the viewer's computer.
