Many content providers don't seem to realize it but Mac users watch streaming videos too.  It amazes me with the millions of Mac users worldwide, many don't seem to think these users count in terms of the streaming content that is made available for them. There are so many high profile websites that don't allow any type of streaming experience available for Mac users.  At least in many cases it doesn't work properly.  Amazingly some of my favorite websites to watch streaming content on don't delivery content properly for Mac users.  I have to use a PC to experience the content. We need to change this. 

As a component of its new content management project, Australia's News Digital Media adopted Telestream's FlipFactory workflow automation software to fulfill its video transcoding requirements. News Digital Media is one of Australia's largest and most innovative online networks, providing news, sports and weather sites with international, national and local perspectives.

News Digital Media will install eight FlipFactory transcoding engines in the initial phase of the content management project, with further engines to be installed at a later stage possibly doubling the initial deployment. Telestream's Australian distributor, Techtel Pty Ltd, will work closely with News Digital Media to supply and support the software throughout the integration.

A new real-time video production software product for Mac and PC users was added to Telestream's product lineup last summer when the company acquired Vara Software Ltd. Wirecast is a desktop application that turns any Mac or PC into a video studio, allowing users to quickly and easily capture live events, create and distribute content for real-time web delivery. Wirecast is useful for a broad range of businesses, including entertainment companies and corporate communications departments. Users can stream multiple live video cameras, while dynamically mixing in other media. Features include chroma key, built-in titles and a layering system. Live Earth, one of the world's largest webcasts, was powered by Wirecast, providing on-demand footage to more than 10 million simultaneous viewers on MSN.com.

Renowned producer and editor, Mitch Jacobson, put Telestream's Pipeline video capture system to the test at two recent major live events: an Elton John concert and a Guitar Hero publicity launch for Aerosmith. Pipeline is a unique video capture solution that enables files to be edited during ingest. This capability allowed Jacobson to meet critical time constraints using cost effective hardware.

Telestream today announced an important milestone for its Episode Series media encoding software products. Previously only offered on the Mac platform, version 5.1 extends Telestream's Episode and Episode Pro desktop encoding products to the Windows operating system. Version 5.1 also brings watch folders to Episode desktop products for both Mac and PC users. Telestream, the provider of Flip4Mac Windows Media Components for QuickTime, announced a new product for digital media enthusiasts. Drive-in is a first-of-its-kind software application that allows Mac users to create and store images of digital video discs (DVDs) on personal computer hard drives. Released Friday, September 5, Drive-in provides travelers and home theater enthusiasts with quick, easy access to personal DVD movie collections for playback on laptops, desktop computers and home entertainment systems. A Windows version is planned for future release.

Drive-in provides all the benefits of DVDs, however disc-free hard drive storage offers a number of advantages over conventional physical DVD storage. Drive-in provides a richer user experience, for browsing, searching and accessing movies. Plus, the risk of misplacing or damaging physical discs is eliminated. Telestream today announced availability of a new workflow automation product which targets the cable industry. With the increase in national and regional commercials, VOD content, infomercials and other media being delivered as digital files to cable ad operations centers, the need to automate the process continues to grow. AdManager for Cable streamlines the way cable companies move and manage commercials and other media being received from digital delivery services such as Vyvx, Mijo and DG FastChannel, internal edit suites, and other corporate and regional sources. Digital workflow automation eliminates the need for manual intervention, saving time, labor, and reducing the risk of errors for cable companies.
