Streambox announced that Community of Faith in Houston uses a Streambox Software Encoder coupled with a Streambox SBT3-5100 Decoder to stream video from Pastor Mark Shook's missionary work abroad. This past summer when Shook spent four weeks in Africa as part of a missionary trip, the congregation in Houston was able to share in the experience via streaming video.

With an average weekly attendance of 5,000, and a second campus in Cancun, Mexico, Community of Faith is one of Houston's largest houses of worship. Pastor Shook's missionary trip was part of the church's ongoing outreach to the Batwa people in the African nation of Burundi. With the Streambox software encoder running on his laptop, the pastor captured live video and sent files over IP back to Houston, utilizing Streambox's File Transfer Tool. The video clips were then inserted into his weekly messages during services on four consecutive Sundays.

streambox.gifStreambox Inc. announced the release of its innovative solution for file-based video management and acquisition. The solution, which is part of Streambox's platform for video over IP, comprises three products, each serving unique roles in the broadcast work flow. The Streambox Store and Forward Client, the Streambox Store and Forward Server, and the Streambox Media Station work together to provide greater control and management of field-generated video as it is edited and uploaded to the broadcast studio for multi-format play-out. The solution enables control room operators to better manage hundreds of video files as these are uploaded to the Store and Forward Server by field reporters or citizen reporters for on-demand or scheduled play-out via an easy-to-use web interface. The integrated web interface provides metadata information such as reporter name, file name, and location as well as a thumbnail clip preview of video file uploads and a list of active connections. The control room operator is also able to search video uploads based on metadata. The solution simplifies and streamlines the broadcast work flow from video file upload to video management and play-out.
streambox.gif Streambox Inc. today announced that ABS-CBN, the largest television network in the Philippines, has deployed the Streambox ACT-L3 newsgathering solution in order to expand and enhance coverage of breaking news in the region. The IP-based solution comprising a Streambox portable encoder, an IFB server, and a decoder facilitates cost-effective video coverage while simplifying live and file-based reporting across the Philippines.

"In a country of more than 7,000 islands, news logistics are a challenge," said Maria Ressa, senior vice president for ABS-CBN News and Current Affairs. "The Streambox newsgathering solution enables us to deploy smaller teams to cover breaking news and deliver stories faster. In addition, the scalability of the software-based solution will help us expand easily and deliver content across multiple platforms simultaneously. As a result, we can deliver high-quality news more efficiently today and grow our operations as demand increases."

streambox.gifStreambox File-based Solutions
The integrated Streambox solution for file-based video acquisition provides enhanced management of field-generated video files for on-demand or scheduled play-out of a variety of video formats including raw ACT-L3T and QuickTime wrapped ACT-L3T files. The solution comprises the Streambox Store and Forward Server, The Streambox Store and Forward Client, and the Streambox Media Station. The Store and Forward Server supports multiple simultaneous connections and file transfers while providing meta-data information such as reporter name, location, and file name. It also provides a web interface through which the operator can monitor thumbnails of video files as they are being uploaded by, for example, field reporters. The operator is then able to create video play lists and play-out schedules via the Streambox Media Station. The file-based solution is part of the management layer of the Streambox Platform for broadcast and broadband.

Streambox, Inc. today announced that KIFI Local News 8, an ABC affiliate based in Idaho Falls, Idaho, has selected Streambox for its new Wireless Internet Newsgathering (WiNG) service. The Streambox solution, comprising an ACT-L3T Software Encoder and a SBT3-5100 Decoder, enables KIFI to broadcast live, breaking news from the field using a low-bandwidth WiMax broadband connection, at a much lower cost than for example traditional microwave or satellite newsgathering trucks.

streambox.gif KIFI's WiNG/Streambox solution is designed for easy setup and use in the field. The Software Encoder is deployed on a Windows compatible laptop and it streams the video signal over a WiMax connection at upload speeds of 2 Mbps. At the station, the Streambox Decoder processes the signal for live on-air broadcast. Streambox's innovative ACT-L3T compression technology delivers top performance and reliability including advanced networking features such as forward error correction which mitigates packet loss and network irregularities for delivery of high quality video output.

streambox.gif Streambox video transport solutions are enabling Fellowship Church, one of the largest churches in the U.S., to deliver live video of Pastor Ed Young's message to satellite campuses. The Streambox systems provide a highly reliable and cost-effective solution for encoding, transmitting, and playing out full-motion, full-frame interlaced video and audio of Fellowship Church's services over IP-based networks.

Fellowship Church has deployed a combination of Streambox SBT3-5100 and SBT3-7100 systems along with a Streambox Broadcast Server at its main campus in Grapevine, Texas. At each of its Texas satellite campuses in Dallas, Fort Worth, and Plano as well as at its Miami, Florida campus, the church has deployed the full duplex Streambox SBT3-7400 systems which will eventually enable the church to do bidirectional streaming. Currently, Fellowship Church is doing live point-to-multipoint streaming from Grapevine to each of its four satellite churches. The video transport systems encode and transmit the live video to Fellowship Church's Texas campuses via a dedicated metro Ethernet network at 4 Mbps, and to the Miami satellite via a bonded T1 Internet connection. Streambox's built-in forward error correction helps mitigate packet loss and other network irregularities, which are especially common over the public Internet connection to the Miami campus.
