The all-day live inaugural coverage, provided by Highwinds' customer and other news outlets around the world, is sure to set records for the largest-ever online audience for live streaming viewership in the history of the Internet.

Tomorrow looks to be an exciting day for Americans and the Presidental family, but it will be also be a huge day for video content delivery networks.  Inauguration Day 2009 will be unprecedented as it relates to Webcasts.  Many stations and broadcast will have live streaming of the ceremony.  The technical side of me is excited about monitoring many of the webcasts available.

Louisiana native, Marcus Morton, recently left the California Film Commission to focus more attention on his thriving Internet company, Network Foundation Technologies (NFT), based in Ruston Louisiana. For Morton, a successful movie producer and Internet entrepreneur, it was a bittersweet moment. Morton was originally appointed to the California Film Commission in 2001 by Governor Gray Davis, and then receiving a second appointment, Morton served the last five years under current Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger.

German MPEG-4 video coding expert dicas will add a new product to the successful dicas2000 hardware series at the beginning of next week. The dicas2020 is a multi-format encoder that enables broadcasters, content providers and satellite operators to deliver one input channel of video and audio simultaneously to various end-user applications such as set-top boxes, PCs, broadcast-quality decoders, handheld devices and Flash Players.

Digital Rapids, a leading developer of solutions for bringing television, video and movie content to the Internet and the latest generation of viewing devices -- announced that the company's new TouchStream video and audio streaming appliance was honored with the Most Innovative Product award at the Broadcast India exhibition in Mumbai last month. The award is the fourth for TouchStream since its unveiling in September.
