Understanding Field Order in Compressor, Episode Pro and Squeeze - Part 3

|

In terms of understanding Field Order/Field Dominance in Sorenson Squeeze Compression Suite, you really need to understand your source. You can use other tools to find out the Field Order of your source before bring it into Squeeze. Since Sorenson Squeeze is designed to be a simple compression tool to use, most deinterlacing that is done will work fine by using Auto Remove Interlacing. If you ever notice problems with a source not deinterlacing properly and having interlaced frames or the "comb effect", then determine the Field Order of your video file and if the field order is Lower Field remove the opposite field. For example if your have a DV source which is Lower Field first under Squeeze's Deinterlace Filter Choose Remove Interlacing Odd. If the source is Upper Field First then choose Remove Interlacing Even.
