Smooth Cam filter in Final Cut Pro 6.0
Final Cut Pro 6.0 introduces a new remarkable fx-plug filter called smooth cam. Smooth is an amazing filter that stabalizes a shot without a bunch of complicated settings and adjustments.

This processed can be done in the background. After clips are analyzed, you can seamlessly adjust the smooth cam parameters without rendering.
The first step is to turn on a column heading called 'SmoothCam' in your Browser window. To add column headings, right click on any column heading at the top of the Browser Window.
You can then select several clips for pre-processing. Rlight click on one of the highlighted clips, and select 'run analysis'. Final Cut Pro will let you know when the analysis is complete.

After the smooth cam analysis is complete, you can drag the SmoothCam video filter onto your clip.

After it has been applied to a clip (either in the timeline or browser), you'll need to double click on the clip to load its contents into the Viewer window. Within the viewer window you can now access the SmoothCam's filter properties.
The three critical sliders are:
Translation smooth: This will help smooth out vertical and horizontal motion.
Rotation smooth: Smooths out camera rotation around a center axis point.
Scale smooth: Zooms into the frame to hide black areas that are revealed from the translations and rotation smooth parameters.
*A value of 0 turns the parameter off, and a value of 5 is the maximum smoothness provided.
One incredible feature about SmoothCam, is the ability to adjust the parameters without having to re-render the clip. Once the clip has been analyzed, it always stays rendered. You can freely experiement with the SmoothCam parameters and even turn the filter on/off without having to re-render.
