Normalizing Audio helps the Web Viewer's Experience

To help the overall web user's viewing experience it is usually a good idea to normalize the audio in your streaming video. Here is what the setting looks like in Compression Master and Sorenson Squeeze Compression Suite.

Normalizing the audio can bring the overall audio in your streaming video up or down. Here is how it works. It takes your highest audio level in your video source and if you have areas of the video where the audio is not loud enough, the quiet areas of the video are raised to same level as the higher areas so that the audio levels are consistent throughout the video. The same holds true in reverse for decreasing audio levels.

Normalizing the audio is valuable because it prevents the viewer from having to adjust audio levels up and down throughout your streaming video.
