Converting Videos to the MPEG2 format using a Mac

Recently, I had a challenging task of trying to find a free tool to convert QuickTime files to the MPEG2 format. It was a challenging task and I found it difficult to find a free and easy to use conversion tool to MPEG2. What I did find out is that it is easier just to purchase a good encoding tool to do the job. One of things that you pay for with the better encoding tools is ease of use and pre-built default settings for compression.

Compression Master, Procoder, and Sorenson Squeeze Compression Suite are great applications to use for compressing MPEG2 content. One added benefit of using the Mac platform is if you are using Final Cut Pro or DVD Studio Pro it comes with Apple's Compressor software that can compress videos to the MPEG2 format.
