A unique service is available for anyone that values getting information about video streaming usage. The service, sponsored by comScore is called Media Metrix and it provides an analysis of consumer usage of on-line streaming video content. comScore is in the business of selling marketing research and Video Ratings is one of their products. This type of information is available because comScore has permission from more than 2 million consumers to confidentially record their browsing and transaction behavior.

Here is some sample information available from the June 2005 Media Metrix report:
In June 2005, 94 Million people viewed a streaming video on-line.
Over the 3 months ending in June 2005, the average consumer viewed 73 minutes of
streaming video content per month.
Male users, who represent 50 percent of the total online population, account for 61 percent
of all video streamers.
