Back-up of Your QuickTime Streaming Server on an External Drive
If you have a QuickTime Streaming Server you can create a back-up of your server onto your external firewire drive. This will help in the event of a hard drive problem or any issues that might arise with your QuickTime Streaming Server. It's a great way to get you back up and running quickly. Creating a solution like this will probably cost between $150 - $250 for a suitable hard drive. The 160 GB Lacie external firewire drives are excellent for this purpose and provide enough space to create two partitions, one for your Mac OS X Server that includes the QuickTime Streaming Server and another partition available for extra storage for backing up other items.

Once you install your Mac OS X Server to your external fire hard drive you can select that OS by going to the startup disk and selecting the disk with the MAC OS X Server software which can be found under System Preferences. Restart your computer an it will boot as the QuickTime Streaming Server.
