DVD Studio Pro: January 2010 Archives

dvd_studio_pro_icon.gifWhen we talk about Jacket Pictures and DVDs, we're not talking about pictures on a DVD box cover, but rather, a picture that actually pops up on the screen when you've stopped play.  It's a way to brand your DVD with your company logo or graphic.  Jacket Pictures (usually referred to as Jacket_P images) are sometimes used by some DVD players that can hold more than one DVD at a time to give a visual indication of what disc is available.  But keep in mind that not all DVD players have the capability of showing this feature.  Some do, some don't; it's kind of a hit or miss thing.  But since it's not difficult to create, I would suggest go ahead and make one anyway, plus it doesn't take up much space on the disc.

The easiest way to create your Jacket Picture, is in Photoshop first.  Start by creating a new document in Photoshop and choose the video preset NTSC DVD 720x480 from the drop down menu.  More step by step after the jump...
