Final Cut Pro X provides many built in transition effects.

It also provides a large library of sound effects.

So check this out.

“Now, the only thing that matters is their training for the 5th Annual Guns N Hoses Charity Boxing Event.  The fighters are ready.”

Notice the graphic peels off with the sound effect.

Lets start by adding a page curl effect to the graphic.

Click on the transition button within the Final Cut Pro toolbar.

This will open the transitions browser window.

You’ll notice there is a large list of transitions divided into categories.

However, if you know the effect you are looking for, just type part of the name within the search box at the bottom of the window.

So, I’ll type the word page to find the Page Curl transition.

Now, instead of trying to drag the transition into the timeline area, I found it’s easier to select the transition point ahead of time.

Then double-click on the transition to apply it.

Click on the Page Curl transition within the timeline to select it.

By selecting the transition in the timeline, the viewer window will give you an on screen control for adjusting the page curl angle.

To change the duration of the page curl, right-click on it and choose change duration from the contextual menu.

Then type in the new duration within the dashboard area.

Okay, back up and watch the result.

And now, the only thing that matters is their training for the 5th Annual Guns N Hoses Charity Boxing Event.

The next step is to add a sound effect.

Click on the music note icon within the toolbar to bring forward the music and sound browser.

Final Cut Pro X provides over a thousand different sound effects.

So again, you may find it’s easier to search for common terms by using the search box below.

For example, I’ll type the keyword whoosh to find a sound effect for my graphic that peels off the screen.

And even then, I get a list of over twenty different whoosh sounds.

You can sample each sound effect by double-clicking on it.

Then, when you find a sound effect that you like, you can drag it from the browser straight to the timeline.

Okay, Lets check it out.

Now the only thing that matters is their training for the 5th Annual Guns N Hoses Charity Boxing Event.

You should now have the basics down in terms of applying a transition and adding a sound effect to your project.

And don’t forget, GeniusDV also offers classroom and flat rate onsite Final Cut Pro X training.
