Okay, up to now we’ve been looking at clips in filmstrip view.

So, check this out, click on the list view button, and you can see a list of clips with columns.

The biggest difference here is that you can only view one clip at a time within the event browser.

Also the skimming area is fixed into an area at the top of the window.

That being said, depending on the resolution of your monitor, you can adjust this dividing bar between the playback area of the browser and the list of clips by dragging the bar up or down to display a longer viewing area.

With a longer viewing area, the skimming feature will work more smoothly.

By the way, if you see an audio waveform in this blue area, it means the clip contains audio.

Now, it sometimes can be a bit distracting hearing the audio when you skim clips.

You can toggle this functionality on or off by using the keyboard shortcut shift S.

Speaking of which, this is a good time to talk about the shortcut keys J, K, and L

Instead of dragging your mouse cursor through a clip to skim its contents, you can press the L key to play forward.

Pressing the J key will play the clip backward.

If you hold down the K while pressing J or L you can view the clip in slow motion.

This is a fantastic way to find specific edit points when editing clips to the timeline.
