Sequencing Text Behavior in Motion 5

It's easy to create dynamic custom title templates using Motion 5.  If you also own Final Cut Pro X, these templates will automatically show up in your title browser window.

Check out this short tutorial on how to use the sequence text behavior in Motion.
When using Final Cut Pro X, It easy to create customized animated titles if you have Motion 5 installed.

Start by launching Apple Motion.

Within the project browser, click on the Final Cut Title box.

Set the duration to 2 seconds and press the return key.

Use the keyboard shortcut shift Z to fit the video frame inside the canvas window.

Click on the Title Background layer within the timeline and press the delete key.

Then click on the text layer.

Now move over to the inspector window tab and click on the tab.

Go ahead and choose a preset for your title.

Then adjust the size of the title.

Navigate over to the upper right portion of the timeline window and click on the add behavior button.

Choose text animation - sequence text.

Move over to the canvas window and use the keyboard shortcut command minus to zoom out a bit so you can see outside the visible picture area.

Then drag one of the letters outside the visible area of the canvas window.

Change the size and rotation of one of the characters.

Notice how all the characters follow the same animation parameters.

Move back over to the inspector window and change the spread of the characters.

Okay, now you have a finished title template.

Navigate to the file menu and choose Save As.

Turn on the save preview movie option.

Choose a new category and give it a name.

Then give the title template a unique name.

Press the publish button.

Okay, now when your back in Final Cut Pro, park over a clip at the point you'd like your title to start within your project.

Navigate to the title browser window and click on your title template.

Press the Q key to connect your title template above the clip in the primary storyline.

Click on the title within the timeline.

Navigate over to the inspector window and click on the text tab to change the name of the title.
