Creating Custom Quick Transitions in Avid Media Composer
A Quick way to access custom transition effects within the Quick Transition Dialogue box is to save your custom transition effects to a bin called Quick Transitions. Begin by creating a bin called Quick Transitions. The naming, capitalization and spacing must match exactly for the custom transitions to show up in the Quick Transition Dialogue box. Create a transition, all of your custom tweaks and parameters can be applied. Click on the Effect Icon in the Effect editor and drag it to the Quick Transitions Bin to save the effect and its custom parameters.
Rename the Custom Transition for easy recognition. Save the bin by clicking on the file menu and choose Save all Bins, or close the Quick Transitions bin. The dropdown menu at the top of the screen now displays the custom transitions that were saved to the Quick Transitions Bin.

The Quick Transitions Bin does not need to be open to have access to the Custom Transitions saved to the bin. The transitions saved can be used to apply your custom transitions in-out though a selected area on the timeline.
The Quick Transitions Bin can be used in any project, and can be updated at any time. Within a new project, go to the File Menu and choose Open Bin. Navigate to the location of your Quick Transitions bin and choose Open. the Quick Transitions Bin will appear in a folder within the Project Window labeled Other Bins.
