Auto Titler in Avid Marquee Title Tool

Learn how to generate titles automatically using Avid's Marquee title tool within Media Composer.  This is an incredible way to save time if you have a bunch of titles that need to be created.
The Marquee title tool within Avid Media Composer has the ability to create titles automatically using a feature called Auto-titler.

To do this, go ahead and create a template for all of your titles.

If you’re unfamiliar with the Marquee title tool, check out this short tutorial for creating a title.

The first step is to make sure you expand each object’s container out to the edge of the screen.

This will prevent accidental word wrapping for titles that have more characters than your template.

Use the keyboard shortcut command L to bring forward the layers window.

Twirl down the disclosure triangle for Layer 1.

Rename each text box with by adding a number starting with the number 1.

If you are running Marquee on a Mac, navigate to the Window menu and select properties and then info.

You can now change the name of each text box within the info properties window.

The next step is to generate a text document with all the titles you want to create.

The first line of text will be mapped to text box 1, and the second line of text will be mapped to text box 2, and so on.

Use a blank line in between each set of titles.

It’s important that you save your document as a plain text file.

After you’ve saved your text file, go back to Avid Marquee and navigate to the file menu and choose Auto Titler.

Now go ahead and point to your text file.

Press the open button.

If you’re using the text edit program on a mac, navigate to the format tab and choose make plain txt.

After you’ve saved your title, go back to Avid Marquee and navigate to the file menu and choose Auto Titler.

Specify a starting number for your titles and press ok.

Within a few seconds, all the possible titles will automatically be created.

Now navigate to the file menu and choose save all to bin.

An additional dialogue box will appear within Avid Media Composer prompting for a name of your original title template.

Give it a name and press save.

You can now sit back and relax while all of your titles render out.

Okay, that’s it!

You should now see all of your titles within an Avid bin window.
