It's quite easy to blur out a person's face using Avid Media Composer without having to generate tracking data.
To do this edit your clip to a new sequence.
Then navigate to the effects palette and find the blur effect located within the Image category.
Drag the blur effect onto your clip segment.
Next, press the effects editor button.
Within the effects editor window, click on the oval tool.
Then draw an oval over the person's face while parked at the first frame of the clip.
You may want to feather the edges a bit by navigating back to the effect editor window to adjust these feathering controls.
Since the blur effect automatically generates a beginning and ending keyframe, I recommend that you set the position of your last keyframe first.
Then you can go back to generate keyframes in between the start and end points of the clip.
Okay, so back up to the beginning of the clip and move the playhead indicator forward a bit and nudge the blur object to hide your person's face.
Repeat this process for as many times necessary.
That's it! Go ahead and watch the sequence.
