Google SketchUp and using Templates

Google SketchUp like many graphic programs allow you to create templates to save settings from project to project.

Templates are great for saving view settings, styles, scenes, animation settings, text styles, dimension settings and project location.  Whatever information you need for a project can easily be preloaded when the project is started, will speed up the workflow,  and will maintain a consistency.

Saving and setting a template is easy.
To save a Template, in the menu bar under File - click Save As Template.

The next Dialog box you will see is this.

At this point, name your template, give it a description and the file name will enter in automatically as a .skp file.   When you create a template you are just creating a SketchUp file that will be used as a template.  If you notice  in this dialog box there is a check mark in the - Set as default template, if you don't want this, simply uncheck the box.

Google SketchUp is a great program and using templates make it even better.  Check out our 2-day Google SketchUp class to learn how SketchUp can benefit you.
