SU Podium has just released their latest photo-realistic rendering plugin for SketchUp as a beta.  It is available for download to registered users and as a registered user, I can tell you that Podium V2 is well worth the investment if you want to create photo-realistic renderings within SketchUp and take your designs to the next level.
With the same simplicity you expect with Google SketchUp, you can now create photo-realistic rendering with SU Podium without having to learn a complex rendering program.
The SU Podium tool bar looks like this - just 5 icons.

Render Current Scene - select it and start rendering your current view and if you want to make any adjustments in your rendering settings  - click the options icon and make your changes.

To add materials and lights, it is just as simple.  To add materials, select an object and click on the SU Podium Materials Properties icon and make your adjustments.

For lights, click on the Place Point light icon to place your light and when you have it placed select the Light Properties icon and make you adjustments.

Adjusting the settings for lights and materials, will take a few tries until you get the results you want but once you get everything adjusted to your liking you easily go from a typical Sketchup look to a Photo-realistic rendering.
