iphone vs iphone cellular QuickTime export

| | TrackBacks (0)
You can easily create a version of a Final Cut Pro sequence using the QuickTime conversion export setting. You will have some options to choose from when exporting:  for iPhone, or iPhone Cellular.  Do you know the difference?

Exporting for iPhone creates a movie that is optimized for delivery to iPhone over a Wi-Fi connection in a .m4v format.  While exporting for iPhone Cellular creates a movie that is optimized for delivery to iPhone over a cellular connection in a 3gp format.  If you're preparing your movie for high quality playback on the iPhone, then choose Movie for iPhone.  If you want to stream movies over a cellular network to other mobile users choose Movie for iPhone cellular.
iphonecel.gif To give you an example of the size differences, a 20MB video exported with the Movie for iPhone option gives you a higher quality 3.1MB file.  While choosing the Movie for iPhone Cellular option gives you smaller dimensions and file size of 348KB.
