Using LiveType with Avid Media Composer
With the growing popularity of Final Cut Studio, some of us are forced to learn how to use multiple editing platforms. Sometimes, you may find a machine that has both Avid Media Composer and Final Cut Studio installed on it.

If you haven't used the LiveType application within Final Cut Studio, you're missing out on an incredible application. LiveType can be used to create some amazing effects with a minimum amount of effort. LiveType can also be used for complex video compositing, such as creating an animated video wall.
Believe it or not, there is some direct integration between Avid Media Composer and Apple LiveType. The procedure is very similar to how you would use LiveType with Final Cut Pro.
Make sure you are running Avid Media Composer in the background, along with the LiveType Application. Design your title using LiveType, and save the project. After the LiveType project has been saved, you'll be able to drag the LiveType project icon directly from the LiveType interface into an Avid Bin.
If you are using a software version prior to Media Composer 3.05, you'll need to make sure the import settings are set to 'invert alpha'.
You'll need to re-arrange the LiveType Canvas window to reveal the Avid Media Composer application running underneath it.
The LiveType project icon is available in two places:Â
- At the Top of the Canvas Window
- At the Top of the Timeline Window
*It's a very small project icon labeled with a 'T'. Drag the LiveType project icon directly into an Avid Bin.
