Add Spotlight Search Data to Media Files
Being able to easily find media files, like Quicktime movies or photos, is an important step in an effective Final Cut Pro editing workflow. Adding data (metadata) that describes a file will allow the Spotlight feature to find the file, even if you don't remember what you named it or where you stored it. The Spotlight is a great tool to quickly find the file you need.

This process is very similar to using Google to find a website. My wife uses this function very effectively to organize photos. By leaving the file name that the camera creates, and adding the photo name and any other descriptive information in the Spotlight Comments , she is able to leave the photos in the order they were taken in the Finder, but be search able.
Adding Spotlight Comments to Quicktime Movies is extremly effective as well, especially if you have subcliped your media into individual files.
