logo-internap.gifInternap Network Services Corporation, a global provider of end-to-end Internet business solutions, announced its Performance IP network and data center colocation are powering innovative services from ActiveVideo Networks to enable the seamless delivery of Web-infused television programming via existing set-top boxes and Web-connected consumer electronics devices.

ActiveVideo Networks intelligently streams Web video, Web 2.0 functionality and traditional television onto a single TV screen, powering a personal experience for each viewer. ActiveVideo enables navigation through an interactive environment of both linear and broadband programming, including: rich interfaces and graphics optimized for TV and remote control navigation, social networking, personal media, niche content and targeted, actionable advertising. The company selected Internap to build out a custom data center and network configuration to support programming in North America, Europe and Asia.

"The anticipated demand for services that combine the best features of the Web and television has necessitated an expansion of our ActiveVideo Distribution Network infrastructure," said Don Gordon, chief operating officer of ActiveVideo Networks.  "Our selection of Internap assures us of a long-term partner with a track record of proven performance on behalf of tier-one customers, a reputation for excellent customer support and the ability to rapidly deploy an integrated data center and network solution tailored to our unique requirements."

Internap offers a unique, bundled solution of Performance IP networking and data center colocation that comes with a 100% performance service level agreement (SLA). Performance IP is based on Internap's global platform of 55 service points around the world and patented route optimization technology called Managed Internet Route Optimizer (MIRO). The Performance IP platform monitors Internet performance and automatically selects the best path for content to travel. Performance IP is seamlessly integrated with Internap's data center colocation at 44 sites globally to provide an end-to-end solution for new media applications and business-critical websites.

"ActiveVideo Networks breaks down the barriers between television and Web content and revolutionizes the television-viewing experience with greater interactivity," said Tim Sullivan, chief technology officer at Internap. "The industry has long sought convergence between the Web and television -- and ActiveVideo delivers on that promise. Our own converged solution of IP networking and data center colocation is a perfect fit for new media companies looking for a single service provider -- regardless of the type of traffic they are pushing."
