After Effects and Sequencing Layers
One of the great things about after Effects is it's ability to not only let you create in a limitless way but also automate some common tasks. One highly overlooked feature is the Sequence layer assistant. Once you have trimmed your layers and you want to dissolve each layer into one another you would normally have to select opacity for each layer and then set two keyframes for each layer one at 100% following with one at 0%. This is very time consuming and yes there is a faster way. Click on your composition to activate it, and select all layers with either cmd+a for a mac or ctrl+a on a windows machine. Now right click on one of the layers and and select Keyframe Assistant>Sequence Layers. You will have a few options. Turn on Overlap and Dissolve front layer. Now choose the amount of time you wish the dissolve to be and you a done. You now have all your layers perfectly dissolving into one another and the set time.
