Sequence Markers in Final Cut Pro

| | TrackBacks (0)
Using sequence markers can be an excellent way to help keep yourself organized. Because they appear in the Canvas, they can be very useful in keeping yourself reminded what needs to be done. As you travel across a sequence marker by marker ( shift M, & option M ) you can get all your messages to yourself, and deal with them accordingly.

It is very important to understand the difference between Sequence and Clip Markers. Sequence Markers appear in the ruler portion of the Timeline, and are not affected by moving clips. Clip Markers appear in a clip and travel with the clip if it is moved. The other major difference is that a description of Sequence Markers appears in the Canvas when you are parked over a marker.

An often overlooked function of Markers is to use them to skip to a specific spot in a sequence. Bu right clicking in the ruler area you can go to the bottom of the pop up menu and choose a Marker. The playhead will snap right to that  marker, and the Sequence will shift to display the Marker and Playhead in the Timeline.

Do you know what the "Grave" key is? If not don't feel bad I had to look it up. It is the key right below the Escspe key. When used with the Option, Shift, & Control modifiers, you gain even more control over your markers.

The Option & Grave keys will extend a Marker to be marking a range vs a single point.

The Shift  & Grave keys will move a Marker forward to the Playhead.

The Control & Grave keys will delete all Markers
