RipCode Introduces Intelligent Transcoding Workflow Manager
RipCode, Inc. has introduced its new On-Demand Signaling Server, a sophisticated complement to its high performance video transcoding appliance. The On-Demand Signaling Server is designed to function as the intelligent network and workflow manager for multiple RipCode transcoding appliances. To address the transcoding needs of today's new media Web 2.0 market -- video search engines, social networking sites, studios, broadcasters or mobile content providers -- the On-Demand Signaling Server provides customers with a video transcoding environment that fully optimizes the power of the RipCode transcode appliance. And, it's built to integrate with RipCode's Client Detection, Ad Selection/Insertion or third-party applications via an open, XML-based API to enhance RipCode's overall On-Demand Transcoding solution.
RipCode's On-Demand Signaling Server is a software application that runs on a Linux operating system and is packaged in a one rack unit general-purpose server. Advantages of the On-Demand Signaling Server include:
Load Balancing and Transcode Management -- manages and controls on-demand transcoding operations and workflows, supporting a single or cluster of RipCode transcoding appliances; managing delivery of multiple simultaneous streams
Low Latency Delivery -- notifies the RipCode transcoding appliance to immediately begin streaming or downloading a file once the first frame is transcoded
Content Distribution -- once a transcode is complete, provides notification of file availability and stores content as cache for future distribution upon subsequent requests via HTTP
Application Integration -- provides integration with a full set of RipCode on-demand transcoding or third-party applications via intuitive XML-based API
