RipCode Joins Microsoft Silverlight Partner Initiative
RipCode, Inc. today announced their participation in the Microsoft Silverlight Partner Initiative. Support from RipCode gives the Microsoft Silverlight development community an innovative On-Demand Transcoding option for dynamically delivering video rich media. RipCode's appliance-based On-Demand Transcoding solution enables content creators to cross-market video in Silverlight-compliant format and further extends the cross-platform, cross-browser reach of Silverlight.
Silverlight is a core technology that enables rich user experiences on the desktop, Web and beyond. The Microsoft user experience approach is part of the broader Microsoft Application Platform strategy, formed with the goal of helping customers realize the benefits from more dynamic applications.
"Having RipCode join the Silverlight Partner Initiative will increase the depth of our video transcoding partner ecosystem," said Steve Sklepowich, group product manager of Silverlight Media at Microsoft Corp. "RipCode's ability to transcode on-demand Silverlight-compliant videos and deliver optimal viewing experiences across a range of media devices aligns well with the commitment from Microsoft to deliver an unprecedented video viewing experience."
The RipCode On-Demand video transcoding appliance transforms the process and methodology of transcoding video. Dynamically delivering video for any size screen, RipCode eliminates the need to pre-transcode and store multiple file formats of an entire video library. Uniquely providing file-to-file, stream-to-stream and on-demand transcoding in a single RU appliance, RipCode supports Windows Media, VC-1 and other industry-leading codecs.
"As the first company to deliver an On-Demand Transcoding solution, RipCode supports Microsoft Silverlight by enabling content providers to dynamically transcode on-demand their entire Silverlight-compliant media library into an optimal viewing format," said Brendon Mills, RipCode CEO. "Silverlight's ability to create compelling and interactive media further accelerates the adoption of video consumption across platforms including web, mobile and IPTV -- thereby increasing the need for a scalable and robust transcoding solution capable of processing dynamic video content."
