button_drop_down_menu.gifWhen dragging assets to a menu button in DVD Studio Pro you are given five choices. They are all very similar, with specific differences.

Set Asset: This option places the asset within the button area. If it is a video asset you will be able to have it play within the button, or display a single frame of the video.

Set Asset and Create Track: This option does the same as the Set Asset option, and also takes the video asset and creates a track that is connected to the button, and also end jumps back to the menu.

Create Track: This option takes the video asset and creates a track that is connected to the button, and also end jumps back to the menu, but leaves the button area clear.

Set Asset and Create Chapter Index: This option place the video asset into the button area, and will bring up a menu that will allow you to choose the style of your Chapter Index. After selecting the particular menu style DVD Studio Pro will use it to create as many menus as necessary to index all of your chapters. DVD Studio Pro will also make the connections from the button to the first Chapter Index menu, as well as connecting them to one another.

Create Chapter Index: This option is almost the same as the Set Asset and Create Chapter Index option, but does not place the asset into the button area.

Keep in mind that if you do not have chapter markers embedded into your video asset, you will have to add them into a DVD Studio track, and then drag that track to the button from the outline.

If you decide you do not want the asset set into the button, you can remove it by highlighting the button and going to the Inspector to change the asset selection from it's current selection to none.
